Therapy Approaches
Therapy is not one-size-fits-all. Different people respond to different ways of exploring emotions, understanding patterns, processing trauma and developing practical coping skills. At Everest Therapeutics, our clinicians draw from a range of evidence-based, trauma-informed and person-centred approaches to tailor treatment to each client’s needs, goals and lived experience.

Our team has training in Cognitive Processing Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Internal Family Systems, somatic therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy and other clinical methods. Some approaches focus on thoughts and behaviours, while others explore emotions, relationships, parts of the self or the connection between the mind and body.

You do not need to know which type of therapy is right for you before booking. Explore the approaches below to learn how they work, what concerns they may support and which Everest clinicians offer them. Our Therapist Fit Tool and free 15-minute consultation can also help you find a therapist whose experience and style align with what you are looking for.
Attachment-Based Therapy

Attachment-based therapy explores how early relationships and significant life experiences may influence current emotions, beliefs and patterns of connection. It can help clients better understand relationship difficulties, fears of rejection or abandonment, challenges with trust and the ways they respond to closeness, conflict and vulnerability.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) & Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

CBT explores how thoughts, emotions and behaviours influence one another. DBT-informed therapy adds practical skills for emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, communication and navigating difficult relationships.

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)

A structured, evidence-based treatment for PTSD and trauma-related concerns. CPT helps clients examine beliefs connected to traumatic experiences and develop more balanced ways of understanding themselves, others and the world.

Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT)

An attachment-based approach that helps couples understand recurring patterns of conflict, emotional needs and barriers to connection. EFT supports partners in developing safer communication, greater trust and a stronger emotional bond.
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

ERP is an evidence-based treatment for obsessive-compulsive disorder. It helps clients gradually face feared thoughts, sensations or situations while reducing compulsive responses and building greater tolerance for uncertainty.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

IFS explores the different “parts” of ourselves that may carry fear, shame, anger, responsibility or the need for protection. This compassionate approach helps clients understand internal patterns and relate to themselves with greater curiosity and care.

Polyvagal-Informed Therapy

Polyvagal-informed therapy uses a nervous-system framework to help clients notice patterns of activation, shutdown, connection and safety. It may include grounding, breathing, movement and sensory strategies that support awareness and emotional regulation.
Somatic Therapy

A body-based approach that considers how stress, trauma and emotions may be experienced through physical sensations and nervous-system responses. Somatic work can help clients build awareness, regulation and a greater sense of safety within their bodies.
