Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer direct billing for counselling sessions?

Yes. Everest Therapeutics offers direct billing with many major insurance providers, when supported by your individual insurance plan.

Coverage can vary based on your provider, policy, therapist credentials, and province. We recommend checking your individual plan before your appointment, and we're happy to provide your therapist's registration or licensing information.

Are counselling sessions covered by insurance?

Many extended health benefit plans provide coverage for counselling and psychotherapy delivered by Registered Social Workers, Clinical Social Workers, and Licensed Counselling Therapists.

Coverage varies between insurance providers and individual plans, so we recommend confirming your mental health benefits directly with your insurer before your first appointment.

How do I book a counselling session?

You can book a counselling appointment instantly through our secure online booking portal.

Choose Moncton, Gander, or virtual counselling, then select your therapist, appointment type, and an available time. If you're unsure where to start, our team can help you find a therapist who fits your needs.

Do you offer virtual counselling?

Yes. Everest Therapeutics provides virtual counselling and online therapy across New Brunswick, Newfoundland & Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Ontario, based on each therapist's professional registration.

Virtual counselling allows you to meet securely with your therapist from home or another private space, making specialized mental health support accessible beyond the communities where our physical offices are located.

Where do you offer in-person counselling?

Everest Therapeutics offers in-person counselling in Moncton, New Brunswick, and Gander, Newfoundland & Labrador.

Our in-person therapists support adults, couples, and youth with a range of mental health, relationship, and life concerns. Services and availability vary by therapist and location.

What can I come to counselling for?

Our team provides specialized support for ADHD and neurodivergence, anxiety, trauma and PTSD, depression, grief and loss, addictions and substance use, relationships and attachment, couples counselling, emotional regulation, stress and burnout, women's mental health, pregnancy and postpartum concerns, and major life transitions.

You don't need to know exactly what's wrong before reaching out. Therapy can also be a space to better understand yourself, recognize patterns, strengthen relationships, and develop practical tools for everyday life.

How do I find the right therapist?

Finding the right therapeutic fit matters. Our team includes Clinical Social Workers and Licensed Counselling Therapists with different areas of specialization, clinical training, lived experiences, and therapeutic approaches.

You can explore our therapists by specialization, location, availability, and approach. If you're unsure who to choose, you can also reach out and we'll help you find a clinician who may be a good fit.

Do I need a mental health diagnosis to start therapy?

No. You do not need a mental health diagnosis to begin counselling at Everest Therapeutics.

People come to therapy for many reasons, including stress, relationships, grief, life transitions, emotional regulation, burnout, self-understanding, or simply feeling that something isn't quite right.

What types of therapy do you offer?

Our clinicians draw from a range of evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, attachment-based therapy, and somatic and nervous-system-informed approaches.

Your therapist will work collaboratively with you to determine an approach that fits your goals, needs, and preferences.

Do you provide counselling for ADHD and neurodivergence?

Yes. Members of our team have specialized training and lived experience related to ADHD and neurodivergence and provide neurodivergence-affirming counselling for adults and youth.

Therapy may explore emotional regulation, executive functioning, relationships, burnout, masking, self-esteem, life transitions, and developing strategies that work with — rather than against — the way your brain works.

Do you offer couples counselling?

Yes. Everest Therapeutics offers couples and relationship counselling, with both virtual and in-person options depending on therapist availability and professional registration.

Couples may seek therapy for communication difficulties, conflict, attachment patterns, trust, intimacy, major transitions, separation, or simply wanting to build a stronger relationship.

How long are therapy sessions, and how often will we meet?

Most counselling sessions are approximately 50 minutes. Clients may attend weekly, biweekly, monthly, or as needed depending on their goals and circumstances.

Your therapist will work with you to establish a schedule that makes sense for your needs and can adjust that rhythm as things change.

What can I expect in my first therapy session?

Your first session is an opportunity to get to know your therapist, talk about what brought you to counselling, and begin identifying what you'd like support with.

There's no pressure to tell your entire story at once. Your therapist will work with you to create a space that feels comfortable, collaborative, and appropriate for your goals.
